Charmaine Teo
Charmaine Teo is a leading voice in early childhood education in Singapore, with a distinguished career spanning education, law, real estate investment, and nonprofit leadership. She is currently the Vice-President of the Association for Early Childhood Educators (Singapore) (AECES) and a Board Member of the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC), where she contributes to shaping national education
policy, professional standards and educator development.
With over two decades of cross-sector experience, Charmaine began her career as a lawyer at leading Singapore firms before moving into private equity. She later co-founded Between Two Trees Preschool, an award-winning early childhood centre recognised as an ECDA Outstanding Centre in 2021, where she played a key role in curriculum design, teacher development, and organisational strategy. Charmaine is also the Director of Blue Lion Preschool, a nonprofit initiative focused on innovative, wisdom values-driven early education.
Charmaine holds a Master of Science in Early Childhood from Monash University, a Master of Science in Real Estate from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Bristol. She is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in both Singapore and England & Wales. Her professional development includes programmes at Stanford University, Harvard Graduate School of Education, and
Reggio Children International.
A recognised educator and thought leader, Charmaine has developed curricula across multiple schools, co-authored a book on bilingual project-based learning and is a regular speaker on early childhood pedagogy, including press interviews, engagements with the Early Childhood Development Authority (ECDA), and international conferences. She is deeply committed to advancing teaching practice, ethical and professional leadership and innovative, child-centred approaches to education in Singapore and the wider region.
